Wild Madder - Galium mollugo " (Bedstraw family - Rubiaceae) " A smoothish species with an erect stem arising from a sprawling base. Most leaves in 8's. Numerous small white flowers form a loose, branched, terminal cluster.

 

 

 

 

Leaves are in whorls of 6 - 8. Fields, roadsides. The generic name is from the Greek gala ("milk") and refers to an old use of the plant to curdle milk in making cheese.
