Blue-eyed Grass - Sisyrinchium spp. " (Iris family - Iridaceae) " Stiff, grasslike plants with a yellow "eye." The flowers have 6 petals, each tipped with a small point. Flowers bloom only for one day and only in the morning if it is sunny.

Determination of the species is difficult. This is probably S. montanum, as it has relatively wide leaves (1/3 inch), flat stems, and the flowers are short-stalked. Some are found in fields and meadows; others in wet places. |
